Recommended Vivarium Size: A 36x18x18 habitat is suitable for 3-4 frogs. They prefer a horizontal habitat with access to water.
Temperature: Range of 65 F to 75 F, but prefer temperatures in the low to mid 70s. Temperatures over 80 F are dangerous.
Humidity: Range of 70 – 100%, but can tolerate humidity down to 50% for short periods of time if the frogs have access to water. Low humidity levels, especially without access to water, can quickly be fatal.
Size: Adult females are approximately 3.5-4 inches. Male frogs are smaller about 2-2.5 inches at maturity.
Life-Span: True Tomato Frogs are capable of living well over 5 years in captivity under ideal conditions.
Feeding: True Tomato Frogs eat crickets. All feeder insects should be dusted with supplements.
Sexing: Tomato female frogs are larger than the males. Female tomato frogs are up to 4 inches in length. Tomato Frog males average about 2.5 inches in length. Finn's Frog Farms sells unsexed juvenile frogs, least three months out of the water.
Color/Pattern: Females have brighter tones of red or orange on their back, with a pale undersurface. When threatened, these frogs can inflate themselves, giving the appearance of greater size. Which also makes them look more like tomatos.
Social Behavior: These frogs do well housed in groups provided there is enough space. Finn's Frog Farm strongly recommends against housing different species/morphs of frogs.
