Recommended Vivarium Size: Crowned Tree Frogs are medium sized frog and will need a larger habitat.  As a tree frog, they will want a tall enclosure.  Exo Terra Glass Terrarium 18x18x24 or 18x18x36 are good for groups up to four.  Adult Crowned Tree Frogs like being above water.  A paludarium would work best.  Make sure to include a large ground spots for feeding crickets and spots for the frogs to be out of the water.

Temperature: Range of 70 F to 80 F, are recommended temperatures.  Temperatures in the mid/high 80's can be fatal.

Humidity: Range of 50– 70%, Borneo Eared Tree Frogs.  Ventilation is important in a tree frog habitat.  Leave half of the top as a screen.

Size: Adult Crowned Tree Frogs can be 2-3 inches in size. Females are larger than males.

Life-Span: Exact life span is unknown.  Based on similar species it is estimated that Crowned Tree Frogs are capable of living 6-10 years in captivity.

Feeding: Crowned Tree Frogs are eating crickets.

Sexing: Finn's Frog Farms sells unsexed juvenile frogs, least three months out of the water.  The females are much larger and more rounded than the male frogs.  Males will call when in a rain chamber.

Color/Pattern: Crowned Tree Frogs are grey as froglets with black and gray banded legs.  The spines on their heads are not on present when froglets.  As adults the colors change to light brown/bronze and darker chocolate brown.  The spine (crown) will develop as they get older.

Social Behavior: These frogs do well housed in groups.  They can outcompete each other with food.  Make sure each frog is getting enough to eat.  Finn's Frog Farm strongly recommends against housing different species/morphs of dart frogs.

Breeding:  Crowned Tree Frogs will lay eggs on leaves or glass near the water line. The female will periodically lay unfertilized eggs to feed the tadpoles.  The best way to breed captive Crowned Tree Frogs is the use of a rain chamber.
